Hurkacz, suffering from back pain, withdraws before his round of 16 match in 's-Hertogenbosch
Hubert Hurkacz's physical issues persist. The Polish player, ranked 32nd in the world, has seen his 2025 season disrupted by a back injury. Absent for a month and a half after Indian Wells, the two-time Masters 1000 champion (Miami 2021, Shanghai 2023) returned for the Madrid Masters 1000 before reaching the quarterfinals in Rome and the final of the Geneva tournament.
However, his back discomfort never fully subsided, and it flared up again during his first-round match in 's-Hertogenbosch (Bois-le-Duc) against Roberto Bautista Agut (7-6, 6-4), marking his first grass-court tournament of the season.
Although he reassured everyone about his condition after his victory over the Spaniard, Hurkacz won't be able to continue. Before his round of 16 match scheduled for this Thursday against Mark Lajal, the Pole was forced to withdraw, allowing the Estonian to advance to the quarterfinals without playing.
