"I always thought I was bad on grass," Pavlyuchenkova savors her Wimbledon quarterfinal qualification
Despite being wronged by a clear video umpiring error, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova prevailed with a score of 7-6, 6-4 against Sonaya Kartal.
The Russian advances to her first Wimbledon quarterfinal, having never progressed past the third round in her 15 previous appearances.
Interviewed on the court, Pavlyuchenkova struggled to process the achievement: "It's unbelievable. I always thought I was bad on grass. It's just incredible.
Especially as I get older and come back here every year. I'm very proud of myself to be able to compete at this level with these young girls."
She will face either Amanda Anisimova or Linda Noskova next.
