I didn't return just to play, but to show that nothing can stop me," announces Badosa after a positive week in Strasbourg
Paula Badosa made her return to competition this week in Strasbourg after several weeks off due to a back injury.
The Spaniard, who lives with pain that is sometimes daily, as she recently described, assessed her health status in a press conference after her quarter-final defeat on Thursday against Liudmila Samsonova (6-4, 3-6, 6-4):
"After being away from the courts for two months, enduring two painful injections and many hours of recovery, I am back. Not just to fight, but to play at the highest level.
Most people don't see the frustration, the fear, and the silent battles. The doubt that arises when your body no longer does what it used to and you wonder if it will ever be able to do it again.
Even though I didn't win today, it's already a victory to be on the court. What is certain is that I will always fight, no matter what happens. I didn't return just to play, but to show that nothing can stop me.
