I do not tolerate any disrespect," Townsend reflects on the incident with Ostapenko at the US Open

During the second round of the US Open, the sporting confrontation between Townsend and Ostapenko quickly took a backseat.
Annoyed by her opponent, the Latvian player criticized her lack of courtesy at the end of the match. These criticisms then gave way to an altercation between the two players, all in front of spectators and cameras from around the world.
Nevertheless, Ostapenko spoke out on Instagram a few hours later, justifying her remarks by citing a poor use of English terms. While Townsend did accept her apology, she recently revisited the incident:
"She said it was her second language and that she didn't fully understand the words she was using. I show kindness when it is deserved, but I do not tolerate any disrespect, especially when I treat you with respect, in a sportsmanlike spirit and by honoring the game.
