I don't think either of us imagined being in the final, when Federer and Nadal played a legendary match at the Australian Open

In 2017, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal unexpectedly met in the Australian Open final. The two tennis legends were both making their comeback to competition after injuries at that time.

They engaged in a battle that would mark the history of modern tennis, with Federer ultimately prevailing with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.

During his speech at the trophy ceremony, the Swiss player made sure to pay tribute to his great rival: "I don't think either of us imagined being in the final when we saw each other at your academy four or five months ago.

And here we are in the final, I'm happy for you, I would have also been happy to lose to you. Tennis is a tough sport, there are no draws, but if there were, I would have been very happy to accept one tonight and share it with Rafa.

Was the 2017 match the one where Federer faked a knee injury and Nadal started taking it easy on him before he realized too late Federer, who started playing well again, had been faking the injury? Nadal had the momentum in his favor going into the last set, but he lets Federer's mind game get to him and lost his composure and lost the match. Just one of the majors Nadal should have one had he played it right.
