Aryna Sabalenka, who has qualified for the quarterfinals of the US Open, is now guaranteed to leave New York retaining her position as world number one, no matter what happens.

In a press conference after her victory against Cristina Bucsa, the Belarusian discussed her number one position.

She states: "I think pressure is part of our lives; it's normal to live with it. So, of course, it's essential to focus on the fun aspects.

I really enjoy being world number one and the pressure that comes with it, but I also work very hard to be here. For me, it's essential to focus on my game and always try to play my best tennis, to be on the court and fight.

If I manage that, I know I'll have my opportunities. For me, it's a pleasant life as long as you love your work. Being world number one opens many doors; you meet amazing people, you start collaborating with many brands; that's the beauty of this sport.
