The second week of the US Open has begun, and the final round of 16 matches are set to take place. Sinner, Gauff, and Swiatek will all be in action.

The winner of the previous round's Zverev vs. Auger-Aliassime match, Auger-Aliassime, will kick things off on Arthur Ashe Stadium against Russia's Rublev (starting at 5:30 PM French time), followed by the clash between two former tournament champions: Osaka and Gauff.

Meanwhile, the defending champion and world number one is scheduled to face one of the few players to have beaten him this season, Bublik (second round in Halle). Finally, local player Anisimova will close out the day against Brazil's Haddad Maia.

On Louis Armstrong Stadium, spectators will first witness the match between De Minaur and the tournament's surprise, Riedi (ranked 435th). The Swiss qualifier eliminated Cerundolo and then Majchrzak on his way (starting at 5:00 PM French time).

Swiatek will then take over against the 13th seed, Alexandrova. To finish, Italy's Musetti will wrap things up against the world number 44, Munar.

It's worth noting that the Kostyuk-Muchova match is the only one scheduled on the Grandstand. The two players have never faced each other on the tour and will be playing for a spot in the quarterfinals. While a qualification would be a first for the Ukrainian, the Russian, on the other hand, has already surpassed this stage of the competition, having reached the semifinals in the last two editions.

Despite top-10 ATP rankings and consistent excellence, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gaël Monfils, Richard Gasquet, and Gilles Simon never claimed a Grand Slam title, enduring mockery from French media amid Big 3 dominance. A deep dive into a talented generation defined by sky-high expectations and brutal competition.

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.

Also, on the first very hot day, the organizers schedule Sinner...
