"I enjoy watching tennis much more on a slow court," Rublev's opinion on different types of surfaces

Known for his ability to hit with rhythm from the baseline, Rublev enjoys playing on hard courts. While he is a fan of surfaces considered slow, the same applies when he’s a spectator. Asked by Tennis Channel, the Russian shared his thoughts on the different types of playing conditions.
"As a spectator, I enjoy watching tennis much more on slow courts. It’s a surface that allows for long rallies and shifts from defense to offense.
It requires taking initiative and thinking about how you structure the point. You need much more tactical intelligence and better physical conditioning to succeed on this type of court because you have to be very agile and smart with your movement."
Having qualified for the round of 16 in Toronto, he will face Spain’s Davidovich Fokina. For context, the Russian lost in last year’s final to Popyrin (6-2, 6-4).
