I feel young for my age," Venus Williams discusses her relationship with the passage of time
Venus Williams seems to glide through generations with uncanny ease. At 45 years old, the American recently won a match on the women's tour at the WTA 1000 in Washington (6-3, 6-4 against Stearns). In an interview with Marie Claire UK, the seven-time Grand Slam champion reflected on her relationship with aging, having turned professional over 30 years ago (1994).
"I feel young for my age, physically. The only downside is my knees, but honestly, they’ve been 80 years old since I was a kid. They’ve never helped me, and I’ve had to drag them along with me."
Serena’s sister also spoke about the societal pressure surrounding beauty and the constant desire to appear youthful.
"So many people judge others, and it’s a shame. Regarding plastic surgery—if it makes someone happy, that’s all that matters. There are going to be so many incredible advancements in skincare and anti-aging over the next 20 years, and I’m excited to be part of that. And I’m really curious to see what happens with me and my hip replacement (laughs).
