I felt something in my knee, it was bothering me," Alcaraz reflects on physio visit during his third round at the US Open

I felt something in my knee, it was bothering me, Alcaraz reflects on physio visit during his third round at the US Open

Alcaraz continues his forward march in this 2025 US Open. Solid against Opelka (6-4, 7-5, 6-4) in his opening match, he was efficient against Bellucci in the next round (6-1, 6-0, 6-3). While his third match also ended in victory (Darderi, 6-2, 6-4, 6-0), an incident worried some fans during the second set.

Indeed, he seemed to be suffering from his knee and called the physiotherapist during the changeover at 5-4. A situation he addressed in the press conference:

"I felt something in my knee, it was bothering me. But you know, after five or six points, it had disappeared. I was concerned and that's why I asked to see the physio, but it was nothing serious. It was just a precaution, and after that, I didn't feel anything anymore and everything was fine."

The world number 2 also continued by discussing the scheduling of his match against the Italian. An unusual time for him but beneficial in terms of recovery time:

"It was something I wasn't used to, it was only the second match I played at 11 a.m., the first was in Rome. So, I went to bed very early, which was really strange for me, to be honest.

I woke up at 7 a.m. to be ready, to warm up properly, feel awake and in shape. It was unusual but at least I was able to have more recovery time afterward.
