"I hope to do better next time," Gauff says after loss to Wang Xinyu in Berlin

After winning her second Grand Slam title at Roland-Garros against Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff returned to the court at the WTA 500 tournament in Berlin, marking her first grass-court appearance of 2025.
However, in the round of 16, the world No. 2 couldn’t build momentum ahead of Wimbledon, falling in straight sets to qualifier Wang Xinyu (6-3, 6-3). Following the match, Gauff shared a message on her X (formerly Twitter) account.
"It’s a tough day, but I’m happy to be back on the court. I did my best to adjust quickly to the surface change, but it wasn’t enough.
As always, I’m learning along the way, and I hope to do better next time. Thank you, Berlin, for this short but sweet visit. I’ll come back stronger next year.
I wish I could have given this outfit more screen time because it’s truly one of my favorites. Looking forward to getting back to practice to prepare for Wimbledon. See you soon!" Gauff wrote on social media.
