I needed to recover," explains Alcaraz after his withdrawal from Shanghai
Carlos Alcaraz had decided not to play the Shanghai Masters 1000 in order to rest and treat an injury he had sustained during his title run in Tokyo.
Present at the Paris Masters 1000, the Spaniard gave an update on his physical condition: "Everything went well. Of course, I didn't want to withdraw from Shanghai: it's a very important tournament for me and for all players.
But I needed to recover. I realized I wasn't ready to play another tournament in a row, so I chose to go home, treat my ankle, and get physically prepared for this part of the season.
In recent years, I was already arriving tired at this stage of the season, so this time, I wanted to focus more on recovery, training, and arriving here in top form.
I feel very good physically, I'm training well and the ball is moving perfectly. So I'm looking forward to getting back on court here in Paris.
