I prefer to have Musetti than Djokovic in my group," admits Alcaraz at the ATP Finals
Novak Djokovic was in Carlos Alcaraz's group at the ATP Finals, before announcing his withdrawal after his victory in Athens. The Serb was replaced by Lorenzo Musetti, whom he beat in the final in the Greek capital.
Asked about this change in his group during a press conference, Alcaraz stated: "Obviously, having someone like Novak in the group is always difficult. His experience in this tournament, his level indoors, is quite impressive.
I lost to him in 2023, and I played very well. He crushed me. To be honest, I prefer Lorenzo. I'm not going to lie. If he is here, it's because he deserves it due to the level he displayed in the matches, the tournaments he played this year, and the level he showed this year.
It was really, really high. Let's see how he will perform, how he will adapt. He is coming from Athens and he hasn't been able to get familiar with the court. But I'm sure he will do very well, let's see how it goes.
