"I was dead because of the wedding," Davidovich Fokina explains his withdrawal from Queen's
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina was supposed to play at Queen's last week against his compatriot Carlos Alcaraz. He ultimately withdrew at the last minute, primarily due to his wedding the previous weekend.
Speaking to the *Daily Express*, he explained: "Before the wedding, I was sick, allergic. I’ve had everything these past few months.
After Madrid, I was dead, and it’s as if, unconsciously, we were thinking about the upcoming wedding, and in the end, it took a lot of wasted energy. And now I tell myself it’s done, we’re already married.
Saturday, Sunday, Monday, I was dead. And Tuesday, I didn’t do anything. I told the team I was still dead because of the wedding."
Davidovich Fokina, however, is now competing in Eastbourne, where he will face James Duckworth this Wednesday for a spot in the quarterfinals.
