"I was in pain all day": Anisimova reveals behind the scenes of her Beijing triumph
Despite foot and calf pain, Amanda Anisimova clinched her second WTA 1000 title of the season in Beijing, confirming her meteoric rise and her place among the very best players on the tour.
Amanda Anisimova's impressive 2025 season continues. After being the unfortunate finalist at Wimbledon and the US Open, the world No. 4 has perfectly digested these setbacks to continue her ascent and win her second WTA 1000 of the year in Beijing on Sunday.
The American assessed her physical condition during a press conference after twelve days of intense competition in the Chinese capital:
"I had pain in my foot and calf, especially during the third round. That was one of the matches where I suffered the most. I was in pain all day when I walked.
I still have a little pain, but it's nothing serious. It's more like muscle soreness. The positive thing is that it won't prevent me from playing until the end of the season."
Anisimova will continue in Wuhan with a second-round match against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro or Varvara Gracheva.
