"I was scared, I'm not going to lie," Alcaraz reflects on his injury against Baez in Tokyo

Carlos Alcaraz managed to qualify for the round of 16 in Tokyo, but the match was marked by a foot injury.
Alcaraz advanced to the round of 16 of the ATP 500 tournament in Tokyo. The Spaniard, the new world number one, eliminated Sebastian Baez (6-4, 6-2) and will face Zizou Bergs, who upset Alejandro Tabilo (1-6, 7-6, 7-6), for a spot in the quarterfinals.
However, against the Argentine, Alcaraz injured his left foot and received a bandage to continue the match. It was a short-lived concern, although the player himself confirmed he had quite a scare.
"I was scared, I'm not going to lie. When the ankle movement happened, I was worried because at first I didn't feel right. I'm glad I was able to keep playing after that, I produced good tennis and managed to finish the match quite decently.
We'll see. I'd say it was bad luck. The next few days won't be easy for me. I'll try to recover, do whatever is necessary to be ready for the next match, so I can have a good enough level to compete," Alcaraz told ATP media after the match.
