I was very predictable on the court," Sinner's assessment after his loss to Alcaraz in the US Open final
Jannik Sinner was defeated in the US Open final by Carlos Alcaraz, surrendering not only his title but also the world No. 1 ranking he had held since June 2024.
This performance will lead to some soul-searching for the Italian, as he explained in a press conference:
"I was very predictable on the court today. He adapted his game. That's also his style of play. Now, it will be up to me to decide whether to make changes or not. We will work on that.
I didn't serve-and-volley once, and I didn't use the drop shot much. When you face Carlos, you have to step out of your comfort zone. I might lose a few matches from now on, but I will try to make changes, to be a bit more unpredictable.
That's what I need to do to become a better tennis player. In the end, that's my main goal.
