"I will strive to play as well as possible," Rybakina reveals her goal for the end of the season
After a difficult start to the season, Elena Rybakina seems to be gaining momentum in recent months. The world No. 10 is coming off a very interesting North American hard court tour, marked by semifinals at the WTA 500 in Washington, the WTA 1000 in Montreal, and the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati, losing each time to the eventual tournament winner (respectively Fernandez, Mboko, and Swiatek).
A quarterfinalist at the US Open, Rybakina will now compete in the Billie Jean King Cup Final 8 with Kazakhstan, before focusing on her major end-of-season goal: trying to qualify for the Masters in Saudi Arabia.
"My main goal for the end of the season is to participate in the WTA Finals in Riyadh. Currently, I am eighth in the Race rankings. There are still a few tournaments left, and I have the opportunity to consolidate my position, or even improve it.
I will strive to play as well as possible, especially with the Kazakhstan national team, as we will face the United States (in the BJK Cup quarterfinals in Shenzhen), which is also a significant challenge," Rybakina stated in an interview with the media outlet Vesti.
