"I won't even train for 30 minutes. I need to rest," says Fritz
Having advanced to the third round of Wimbledon, Taylor Fritz once again played a five-set match, this time against Gabriel Diallo.
The American is accumulating significant fatigue, having already won the title in Eastbourne last week.
During the press conference, he announced he would take some rest before his third-round match this Friday: "Tomorrow (Thursday), I’ll train a little, sleep in. I think we’re scheduled on court around 2 or 3 p.m.
I probably won’t even get 30 minutes of practice in; I need to rest at some point. I know I need to work on my returns, even though I don’t yet know who I’ll face in the third round.
If I play against Fokina, I’ll need to work on certain returns because I know he’ll play a very different style of tennis compared to the two players I just faced. I refined my techniques to play quick points against them, so now I’ll have to hit the ball much harder."
Fritz is still waiting to learn his opponent’s name between Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Botic van de Zandschulp, a match that is set to conclude this Thursday.
