I would always bet on a doubles team rather than two singles players coming together for the first time," says Mike Bryan

Mike Bryan, a doubles legend with 18 Grand Slam titles in men's doubles and 4 in mixed doubles, shared his thoughts on the upcoming mixed doubles event at the US Open, where many top players have made an appearance.
In his view, a doubles team accustomed to playing together is better than two singles players without any reference points.
Interviewed by journalist Ben Rothenberg, he stated: "If I had to bet my life, I would always go with the doubles team over two singles players paired for the first time.
I might reconsider my prediction if you gave Alcaraz and Raducanu a training camp where they could string together a few matches.
But I think if you put them up against a team that has played together and won Grand Slams, I would probably favor the experienced doubles players.
You know, on the tour we see singles players getting familiar with this game, and usually, it's the experienced doubles pairs who win most of the time.
But it's going to be interesting. I think it has created a buzz, which is good for doubles.
