"I'm not feeling well right now," Zverev warns about his health despite victory over Shelton
Alexander Zverev will compete in the semifinals of the Cincinnati Masters 1000. The German ended Ben Shelton's nine-match winning streak (6-2, 6-2). Physically exhausted after back-to-back tournaments in Ohio following his title in Toronto, the American couldn’t fight at 100% of his abilities.
However, the world No. 3 doesn’t seem to be at his best either, as he stated in the post-match press conference after securing his spot. As a reminder, from Saturday night into Sunday, Zverev will face Carlos Alcaraz for a place in the final.
"Right now, I’m not feeling well. I don’t know exactly what happened. I stepped onto the court and immediately felt in the best shape I’ve been in for months. I was striking the ball incredibly well at the start of the match.
But toward the end of the first set, I started feeling physically unwell, and it gradually got worse. Still, I managed to qualify for the semifinals, and I’ll do everything to be at 100% tomorrow (Saturday)," Zverev told *Tennis World Italia*.
