"I'm not worried," Sinner reassures about foot discomfort in Rome
Jannik Sinner has reached the final of the Rome Masters 1000. While many questions surrounded the Italian's return to the main tour after a three-month hiatus, the world No. 1 is already showing strong form, dropping just one set on his way to the final.
After straight-set victories against Navone, De Jong, Cerundolo, and Ruud, Sinner came back to defeat Tommy Paul in the semifinals (1-6, 6-0, 6-3) and will face Carlos Alcaraz in a long-awaited clash between the two leaders of the new generation.
However, earlier in the tournament, the 23-year-old called for a physio during his match against Francisco Cerundolo to treat a blister on his right foot. The concern was quickly dismissed by the man himself when questioned about it after his win over Paul.
"Since the third round, I've had a small blister on my right foot that prevents me from moving as I'd like at certain moments. Today, I felt it more than yesterday.
Still, the bandage is just a bit tight, but that’s normal. It shouldn’t be an excuse. I just need to take care of it. With adrenaline, there will be plenty of energy.
As for Sunday’s match, I’m not worried, and I’ll be 100% ready," Sinner told ATP media after securing his spot in the final on Friday night.
