"I'm really happy to be back," says Sabalenka after her win against Vondrousova
Aryna Sabalenka is back on the court. The Belarusian had decided to take a break after her semifinal loss at Wimbledon against Amanda Anisimova and skipped the WTA 1000 in Montreal.
In Cincinnati, she made a successful return against Marketa Vondrousova, winning with a score of 7-5, 6-1.
Interviewed by Tennis Channel after the match, she shared her thoughts and discussed her new collaboration with Max Mirnyi, a former world No. 1 in doubles.
"I'm really happy to be back; it was a great match. I'm glad I got this tough win against Marketa.
I've played so many matches this season that I've gained some experience in handling big moments.
Max is really helping us with our net play. He also gave me some serving tips, which are working really well so far.
I hope it keeps improving. It's also important to bring a new voice to the team."
Sabalenka will face Emma Raducanu in the next round.
