"I'm thought to be an emotionless person, but actually I'm very sensitive," Sinner's confessions about his personality

After a swift victory over Kopriva (6-1, 6-1, 6-2), Sinner began his US Open title defense in the best possible way. Impressive since early 2024, the Italian seems almost unshakable against his opponents. An image he wanted to nuance in an interview relayed by Punto de Break:
"I prepare conscientiously to win matches, but I also have doubts every time I step onto the court and face tough moments. I always wanted to be able to say I had won a Grand Slam, but despite having done it several times, I never take anything for granted.
I remember last year, I arrived in New York with many doubts and a certain fear that people would see me differently. The doping case broke five days before, and it was very complicated for me to handle that.
From the outside, it might seem like I'm an emotionless person, but I'm actually a very sensitive guy. I have doubts every day, sometimes I can't contain the tension, and sometimes I'm too much myself. In difficult moments, I think about all the efforts I had to make to get here, I think about my origins and my family."
In the second round, he will face Australian Popyrin, a quarterfinalist last year and winner, among others, over Serbian Djokovic in the third round.
