Draper, last year's US Open semifinalist, withdraws before his second round

Jack Draper made his return to competition on Monday, playing his first match since his surprising elimination in the second round of Wimbledon.
The Brit defeated Federico Gomez in four sets (6-4, 7-5, 6-7, 6-2) but admitted in a press conference that he had taken precautions with his serve to avoid a recurrence of his arm injury.
Unfortunately, the surprise semifinalist from the previous edition had to withdraw from the draw before playing his second round against Zizou Bergs. He announced the news on his social media:
"Hello everyone, I'm sorry to announce that I am withdrawing from the US Open. I did my best to be here and give myself every chance to play, but the discomfort in my arm has become too significant, and I must do what is right by taking care of myself. Thank you for your support."
Following this withdrawal, Draper will drop out of the Top 5 at the end of the tournament.
