In Hong Kong, Nishikori wins his first ATP semi-final in four years!
Kei Nishikori's dream run in Hong Kong continues.
The Japanese, invited by the organizers, had already eliminated Denis Shapovalov and Karen Khachanov to reach the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Facing Cameron Norrie on Friday, he needed three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-2) to make it through to the last four.
Buoyed by his excellent form this week, Nishikori also delighted the public with a few of his secret tricks, such as the defensive lob that gave him the decisive break in the third set (see video below).
Tomorrow, he plays his first semi-final on the ATP circuit since the Washington tournament in 2021. He will face Juncheng Shang, who beat Fabian Marozsan in three sets (1-6, 6-3, 6-4).
