Inexhaustible Berrettini in chains at Kitzbuhel!
In 2024, when he's up to it physically, Berrettini is untouchable, or almost.
After a rather successful first return to competition, including a title in Marrakech, the Italian had once again fallen short physically.
Fortunately, the arrival of grass gave him a boost. Berrettini was back in top physical condition, reaching the final in Stuttgart (beaten by Draper, 3-6, 7-6, 6-4) and seriously challenging Sinner at Wimbledon (7-6, 7-6, 2-6, 7-6).
Despite missing out on the Olympic Games, the 28-year-old colossus has not forgotten clay. And he would have been wrong to do so!
Having won the title in Gstaad last week, knocking out the likes of Auger-Aliassime and Tsitsipas, the Italian continued his fine form this week.
Registered at Kitzbuhel, he has just qualified for the quarter-finals by defeating Alejandro Tabilo, 21st and number 2 seed in Austria (7-6, 7-6).
He will now face Moreno de Alboran (143rd, invited by the organizers) in the quarter-finals.
