Taylor Townsend has been unplayable since she was drafted from the qualifiers.

Having entered the draw as a "lucky loser", she's been churning out dazzling results ever since.

Taking advantage of Yastremska's withdrawal in the first round (6-3, 3-1 ab.), she then outclassed Satkusic (6-0, 6-2) before giving Jelena Ostapenko a real tennis lesson in the last 16 (6-2, 6-1 in 59 minutes).

On cloud nine, the American gave a helpless Latvian no chance.

When asked about her stunning victory, the current world No.71 confessed she hadn't even waded out before the match.

She was content to play on instinct: "It was a crazy day, guys. Let me tell you a story (laughs).

We were playing at 12:30 and I arrived at 12:24. I don't know how I did it.

Maybe it's because I didn't think. I just walked onto the court and played. I didn't hit a ball.

I didn't warm up. I literally did two bike sprints and thought 'okay, let's go'. So, I guess it worked (smile)."

Despite top-10 ATP rankings and consistent excellence, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gaël Monfils, Richard Gasquet, and Gilles Simon never claimed a Grand Slam title, enduring mockery from French media amid Big 3 dominance. A deep dive into a talented generation defined by sky-high expectations and brutal competition.

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.

Also, on the first very hot day, the organizers schedule Sinner...
