Is Fognini's career transition already in the works? Pennetta discusses her husband’s future

Flavia Pennetta, former tennis champion and 2015 US Open winner, revealed that after her retirement, she struggled to watch tennis. In a recent interview with Italian media, she discussed the possible return of her husband, Fabio Fognini, to the sport after the end of his playing career.

Pennetta, a former professional tennis player who reached a career-high world No. 6 ranking, has been retired for ten years. Her husband, Fabio Fognini, played the final match of his professional career in the first round of Wimbledon, where he pushed Carlos Alcaraz to the limit.

The Spaniard had to work hard to secure a five-set victory. After ending his career, Fognini may remain in the tennis world, as his wife confirmed in recent statements.

"At first, after my retirement, I didn’t enjoy watching tennis. I only followed Fabio (Fognini), but I didn’t feel like watching a full match just for fun. Now, yes: I enjoy following, analyzing, and understanding tennis.

It’s a different approach, one I’ve learned to appreciate over time. I like playing occasionally, giving some advice, but I don’t see myself as a full-time coach. That’s how I found my balance.

Fabio would like to, but I think he still needs a little time to step back and figure out if he really wants to commit to this path and become a coach.

It’s not easy; you first have to ‘kill’ the player within yourself, then come back as another version of yourself, as a coach. The dynamic changes completely," Pennetta stated in an interview with La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Conceived as a bold bet to prepare for the post–Big 3 era, the Next Gen Masters has shaken up the codes of modern tennis. A pioneering, visionary tournament, but now in search of an identity.

A tennis player's income depends solely on his sporting results. In the event of injury, the daily life of those far from the Top 100 can become extremely complicated.

Exhausted but omnipresent stars, ever-longer tournaments and exhibitions that have become a business in their own right: tennis is revealing its deepest contradictions, torn between spectacle and physical survival.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
