It's a bit like the rebirth of Federer-Nadal," says Tsonga about Sinner and Alcaraz
Retired since 2022, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga now works as a consultant for Amazon Prime during Roland-Garros. A two-time semifinalist at Roland Garros, the Frenchman frequently faced members of the Big 3. In an interview shared by Tennis World Italia, the 40-year-old discussed the current transition phase in men's tennis with Sinner and Alcaraz taking the lead:
"They have an advantage over the others, even greater in Grand Slam tournaments. It's a bit like the rebirth of Roger Federer-Rafael Nadal at some point. It's also good to have players like that, who are targets for others. They help advance tennis. It's like this first Roland Garros post-Nadal.
There will be a new smile at the end, new emotions. Alcaraz is enjoying the moment. It's nice to see a player who wants to share, celebrate, and show his emotions. On the other hand, Sinner likes to win, of course, but he moves from one goal to the next with incredible speed, he doesn't dwell on a result, he can change very quickly.
If you want to achieve the kind of goals reached by Novak Djokovic, Rafa, and Roger, you feel like you have more resilience if you behave like that, but you also shouldn't lose yourself.
