It's a very good win for me, Opelka reflects on his victory against Medvedev

Reilly Opelka seized his opportunity. Entering the main draw as a lucky loser at the ATP 250 tournament in 's-Hertogenbosch, the American secured his spot in the semifinals this Friday.

After wins against Jesper De Jong and Nicolas Jarry, the former world No. 17, who has struggled with injuries in recent years, delivered a strong performance by defeating Daniil Medvedev (7-6, 7-6) in the quarterfinals. Following the match, the current world No. 87, who lost to Mark Lajal in qualifying, reflected on his victory.

"It's been a good week for me in terms of my serve, especially today (Friday, 24 aces and 0 double faults). When it's hot like this, the court starts bouncing much more and reacts better to the different spins I use on my serve.

Medvedev has been one of the best players in the world for the past five years, so this is a very good win for me. The double faults he made at the end of the match were because of my serves. I kept him under pressure by serving really well and consistently throughout the match.

That's what caused the three double faults at the end of the tie-break," said Opelka, who will face Zizou Bergs on Saturday afternoon for a place in the final, as reported by ATP media.
