"It's hard to separate your emotions from the results," Raducanu responds to Zverev's comments
During a press conference after her victory against Vondrousova at Wimbledon, Raducanu addressed the remarks made by her male counterpart, Zverev. The latter had spoken about struggling mentally. When asked about it, the British player expressed understanding for the German's position:
"Tennis is a really tough sport. You lose practically every week. No matter how many tournaments you play—say, 26 weeks a year—you end up losing almost 26 times. So it’s a very difficult concept to grasp.
For me, it’s become important to surround myself with good people, try to win the day, and focus as much as possible on my progress. It’s really hard to separate your emotions from the results. If you’re not working well, you can easily slip."
After her 2021 US Open title, the 22-year-old player endured difficult years marked by injuries, underperformances, and off-court challenges.
