Ivanisevic, Rybakina's new coach: "She needs to play more aggressively".
For the latest edition of the United Cup, Elena Rybakina is representing her country, Kazakhstan.
After months of worry due to physical problems, the Wimbledon 2022 winner is hoping for a better 2025 season, and to achieve this, she has called in Goran Ivanisevic as her new coach.
While Rybakina was up against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro for the women's singles in the match between Kazakhstan and Spain, her Croatian coach was interviewed during a side change and hopes that progress will be seen soon enough.
"We worked for two weeks in Dubai. We insisted on her serve, on seeing her go to the net more often.
She has a very good game and she's able to finish points much earlier than she's used to. It's a process.
She needs to get it into her head that she needs to play more aggressively, going to the net to finish certain points on the volley.
I hope she'll be able to show more emotion, although I don't want her to break any rackets!
She's a very calm person, but I'm trying to get her to be more emotional, and I think that will help her game," he asserted.
On court, Rybakina brought her country level at one win apiece against Spain.
