Jabeur faced Paolini in the first round of the Berlin tournament.
After intense qualifying matches and securing a lucky loser spot, Jabeur delivered a top-tier performance by dominating last Wimbledon's finalist, Paolini, in two quick sets (6-1, 6-3).
Seeded No. 4 in the tournament, the Italian and world No. 5 player was completely outplayed throughout the match, overwhelmed by her opponent's quality of play.
Now ranked 61st in the WTA rankings, the Tunisian hopes to regain momentum on a surface she loves, having reached the Wimbledon final twice in 2022 and 2023.
For a spot in the quarterfinals, she will face the winner of the match between Shnaider and Vondrousova.
