Jasmine Paolini Secures Her Spot for the WTA Finals in Riyadh
Defeated at the gates of the final in Ningbo, Jasmine Paolini has still secured her place for the WTA Finals in November.
The list of players qualified for the WTA Finals is almost complete. This Saturday, Jasmine Paolini obtained the seventh available ticket for Riyadh.
The Italian, who was defeated 6-3, 6-2 by Elena Rybakina in the semifinals in Ningbo, benefited from Mirra Andreeva's absence from the Tokyo draw next week to confirm her qualification.
A well-deserved reward for the Italian, who shone in Rome in May by winning the WTA 1000 in front of her home crowd and also reached the final in Cincinnati in August.
There is now only one spot left to claim for these WTA Finals. It will come down to Andreeva and Rybakina. If the Kazakh player wins the title tomorrow in Ningbo, a semifinal in Tokyo would allow her to surpass the Russian.
However, if she loses in the final against Ekaterina Alexandrova, Rybakina will need to reach the final in the Japanese capital.
