Jules Marie puts his career on hold: "I'm no longer happy on the tennis court".
French player Jules Marie, ranked 390th in the world but also known for his YouTube vlogs, has revealed in his latest video that he wants to take a break from tennis.
After qualifying for three Grand Slams in 2024 (Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon) and reaching 203rd place in the world, the 33-year-old has been going through a rough patch for several months.
At 33, soon to be 34, I feel less and less like making all the sacrifices on top of tennis. I don't enjoy it as much, or even want to train at all.
I'm no longer happy on the tennis court. I have problems with my Achilles tendon; it stings when I stand up. It's hard for me to walk. For the last four or five months, I've also had pain in my lower back.
My ranking has dropped, so I'm back in Futures tournaments, which is less motivating. I need a break, but I don't know how long it will last.
Jules Marie mentioned several options in the event of his career coming to an end, such as coaching or a reconversion to padel.
However, he hasn't yet ruled out the idea of continuing on the professional circuit.
