"Just as I started eating, they told me to go back on the court," Fritz's anecdote during the Cincinnati interruption

During the third round in Cincinnati, Fritz and Sonego saw their match interrupted due to a power outage. The blackout lasted 90 minutes. When questioned and reported by Tennis Up To Date, the American revealed he was surprised when one of the organizers signaled for him to prepare to return to the court.
"I just relaxed in the locker room, cooled down, and tried to stay hydrated. The first set was very hot and quite long. The annoying part is that they kept giving us updates like, 'Not for another 15 minutes.' So I thought, 'Alright, this will take a while, I’ll eat something,' and the moment I started eating, they said, 'In 15 minutes, you’re back on the court.'"
The player also went on to explain the difficulty of adjusting to schedules as a professional tennis player.
"You need your body clock to be set. I think scientifically, you peak about eight hours after waking up. It’s tough when we arrive here. Even today, playing in the third rotation, I had to be ready to play at 2 p.m. It’s not easy for me to get enough sleep with the schedule I’ve had so far. So it’s hard to constantly adapt."
Winning 7-6, 7-5, Fritz will face France's Atmane for a spot in the semifinals.
