I'm grateful to finish matches without back discomfort," Tsitsipas finds positives in defeat against Bonzi
Although Stefanos Tsitsipas hasn’t secured back-to-back wins since last April, the Greek chose to focus on the positives after his loss to Benjamin Bonzi in Cincinnati.
He had previously struggled with back issues, which now seem to be behind him.
Speaking to Greek media SDNA, he said: "I’m really happy there’s no sign of injury, which is great.
It would be fantastic to see myself winning more often, but I’m truly grateful to finish matches without any discomfort or pain in my back—that’s a good sign. I didn’t imagine being in this condition until now, so I’m holding onto that.
I just hope to maintain the stability in my back and maybe start stringing wins together little by little, which would be amazing.
If I had to assess my physical condition, I’d say it’s quite good right now, because I’ve worked hard these past few weeks.
My coach is very satisfied. He’s worked with one of the best players in the world, Serena Williams, so I’m sure his opinion counts. The whole team is happy with my progress, my discipline, and my work ethic.
I can’t evaluate it myself, because I’m just trying to give my best on the court, and they’re the ones judging me and giving feedback on their satisfaction. I’ve chosen hardworking people.
I’ve chosen people who truly want the best for me, and I’m here for the long term. I’m here to work hard and hopefully achieve a big result soon.
