Khachanov knocked out by the 145th-ranked player in the 2nd round at Roland-Garros!

Le 30/05/2024 à 22h58 par Guillaume Nonque
Khachanov knocked out by the 145th-ranked player in the 2nd round at Roland-Garros!

A huge surprise on Court 9 at Roland-Garros, where Karen Khachanov was eliminated in the 2nd round of this 2024 edition. All the more surprising given that the Russian, ranked 18th in the world, was leading 2 sets to 0 against Jozef Kovalik, ranked 145th in the world and Lucky Loser (drafted in after losing in the final qualifying round). But the 31-year-old Slovak didn't give up and won after 3 hours and a half of play (4-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4).

Khachanov will surely have huge regrets, as he seemed to have this match in his hands. Especially as he led 2-0 then 4-2 in the 3rd set before conceding 7 consecutive games. But in the end, it's Kovalik who will be competing with Holger Rune on Saturday for a place in the last 16.
