Kostyuk reacts to Ukraine's defeat in BJK Cup: "Sooner or later, luck will turn in our favor"

Despite an impressive performance by Kostyuk, Ukraine will not compete in the Billie Jean King Cup 2025 final. The defeat during the decisive doubles match against Errani and Paolini leaves a bitter taste.
The world number 26 believes that her team is not far from shining in this competition. Marta Kostyuk did everything she could, but Ukraine, although close to the goal, will not reach the Billie Jean King Cup 2025 final.
While the 23-year-old player had defeated Elisabetta Cocciaretto during the first match of the day against Italy, Jasmine Paolini evened the score by overturning Elina Svitolina (3-6, 6-4, 6-4).
The semifinal was decided during the decisive doubles, and the Errani/Paolini pair dominated Kichenok/Kostyuk (6-2, 6-3) to reach the final for the third consecutive year. A difficult scenario to swallow for Kostyuk.
"Considering the match as a whole, especially since Elina's (Svitolina) match, everyone really played incredibly. I don't know when everything changed or why. I've had a few matches like this in my career.
Looking back at our doubles, I feel like I did everything I could, and I think Lyudmyla (Kichenok) did too. They were stronger at decisive moments. We couldn't show our best level on the key points. The score doesn't reflect reality, that's for sure, but it's a hard loss to accept.
At the same time, I feel like we've never been in such a position before. I can't wait to play against this team again and try my luck next year.
I want to take the best from this experience to understand what we can improve and move forward. As a tennis player, you get used to losses, because you lose almost every week, it's part of the game.
Today was undoubtedly a very difficult day for us. We were close to victory. Italy is truly a great team. They are great champions.
The way they managed to come back in the match against China two days ago says a lot about their mentality. And today as well. I think that sooner or later, luck will turn in our favor. We just have to be patient and work for that moment to come," Kostyuk assured for Tribuna.
