Krejcikova responds to a journalist's inappropriate comments
Tennis Channel journalist Jon Wertheim made some inappropriate comments about Barbora Krejcikova's physique during the WTA Finals.
While not yet on air, Jon Wertheim mocked the player by making a remark about her forehead.
On her X account, the world No. 13 denounced the disrespectful comment: "You've probably seen the comments that were broadcast on Tennis Channel, which focused more on my physique than my performance.
As an athlete who is dedicated to this sport, it's very disappointing to see this kind of unprofessional comment.
I think it's time to address the issue of respect and professionalism in the sports media. These moments distract from the very essence of this sport."
Following the controversy, Jon Wertheim issued an apology: "I made some regrettable comments. I acknowledge this and apologize."
Before explaining the reason for his comments: "I joined the call via zoom. We were shown an image of a player who had just played. The angle of the image exaggerated the size of her forehead.
They asked me to put my camera up higher, so I made a joke and mentioned that my forehead looked like the player's in the image."
That said I think Barbora is overreacting to it as the journalist seems to be unintentionally mentioning it.
