WTA Finals - Zheng awaits Sabalenka in the final!
We now officially know the identity of one of the two finalists at the Women's Masters.
After a well-played match, Qinwen Zheng tamed Barbara Krejcikova with great authority to reach the final of this year's tournament, held in Saudi Arabia (6-3, 7-5).
Efficient on serve (9 aces) and perfectly combining aggression and consistency (23 winners, 25 unforced errors) in the exchange, the 22-year-old Chinese player left little space for a Czech player who sometimes seemed disillusioned.
In the final, she will probably meet her bête noire of the moment: Aryna Sabalenka, the world number one. Indeed, if the Belarusian succeeds in taming Coco Gauff this Friday, the two champions will meet for the third time since the US Open.
So far, Sabalenka has won all four of her matches this season: in the quarter-finals of the US Open, in the final in Wuhan, in the final of the Australian Open and in the group stage of the Masters a few days ago.
