Gauff defeated by Krejcikova, Swiatek eliminated from the WTA Finals!
In a match that decided the order of the first two places in the Orange Group, Barbora Krejcikova defeated Coco Gauff in two sets (7-5, 6-4) to secure her ticket to the semi-finals.
The Czech was more opportunistic than her opponent on break points (3 out of 4 converted versus 1 out of 12 for the American) to win the match in just over an hour and a half.
This result means that Krejcikova finishes first in the orange group and will face Qinwen Zheng in the semi-finals.
Gauff, meanwhile, will play world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in what will be their third meeting this year.
This scenario eliminates Iga Swiatek from the WTA Finals, who won last year's event in Cancun.
