WTA Finals - Swiatek humiliates Kasatkina but has to wait!
Iga Swiatek has fulfilled her part of the contract.
Faced with Daria Kasatkina, called up to replace Jessica Pegula who had to withdraw for the final day of the group phase, the world number 2 didn't mess around.
Smothering her opponent from the very first points, she never wavered, eventually winning in two sets and just over 50 minutes (6-1, 6-0).
With no mercy shown to a totally powerless world number 9, Swiatek will now have to be patient. Her fate is no longer in her own hands.
Her presence in the semi-finals will depend on the outcome of the match between Coco Gauff and Barbara Krejcikova.
Indeed, if the world number 3 loses to the Czech, it will be Krejcikova and not Swiatek who will qualify.
We'll be back in a few minutes!
