Kudla announces his retirement and joins the Opelka team

Denis Kudla announced his retirement in a post on his Instagram account. The American had dropped back to 267th in the world and left the top 100 in March 2023.

His best ranking was 53rd, achieved in May 2016.

His best Grand Slam performance was a 1/8th final at Wimbledon in 2015, losing to Marin Cilic.

He says: "I want to thank everyone who has made this adventure special for me, no matter how big or small their role.

I will cherish all my memories and always be proud of them. I will be forever grateful to this sport I love."

Kudla announced that he has joined Reilly Opelka's coaching team, which is already showing very promising results.
