Kuznetsova: "If I didn't train for five hours, my father wouldn't talk to me".
As she retires in 2021, former world number 2 Svetlana Kuznetsova was on YouTube channel 'Business on a Napkin'.
Reflecting on her very successful career, she spoke in particular of her relationship with her father and the absolute rigor he imposed on her: "From childhood, my father taught me to train for many hours. If I didn't train for five hours, he simply wouldn't talk to me. His first question was always: 'Daughter, did you train for five hours?
You tell him yes, and the conversation goes on. If not, he'd hang up. Everything was extremely simple. In our family, weekends were not allowed."
