Kyrgios and Djokovic played together at Wimbledon
A small event took place on the courts of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, where Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios hit balls together on Friday. The Australian, if we exclude his aborted return in July 2023, has been absent from the ATP Tour since the end of 2022 due to a right wrist injury. Before that, he reached the Wimbledon final, where he lost to the Serb in July 2022.
Kyrgios' presence on the courts is not insignificant, as he plans to make his return to competition in the coming weeks. So it's also a way of testing himself to see where his tennis and physique stand. He explained this a few days ago. In the meantime, he is in London this year as a TV commentator.
Nick Kyrgios: "I'm back in London commentating on Wimbledon for TV, which is exciting.
But I'm also training during these two weeks. I'm trying to get some shots in with the players who are here to see where my wrist is at. It's been ten months since my operation, so I'm going to try and get back on the court.
I'll be playing doubles next month (on the ATP Tour). It's going to be exciting. I'll probably start with doubles and, if all goes well, I'll move on to singles, then I'll see how long I'll be out there.
I've missed the competition, the public and my fans. Even the people who hate me miss me, I miss them all. I can't wait to come back."
