Kyrgios still fuming over Swiatek and Sinner: "I'm angry".
Appearing on the Nothing Major Podcast, a weekly podcast created by John Isner, Jack Sock, Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey, all neo-retirees, Nick Kyrgios was asked about the cases of Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner.
After being highly critical of the two champions, both of whom tested positive at doping tests, the Australian explained in greater detail the reasons for his anger.
He declared: "I didn't fail any drug test. It's nothing personal. What would I have against Iga Swiatek? I have nothing personal against Iga. Everyone should be on an equal footing. That's what pisses me off. Because I know that, when I look at Roger and Djokovic... they're gods in my eyes. When you have one of the four of us (himself, Isner, Querrey, Sock, Johnson) against one of them... I feel like there are a lot of fans who want us to succeed because we're relatable. You see us in a bar having a drink, we're human.
These guys already have an advantage because they're just gods. So if they're taking all these other performance-enhancing drugs, it makes me angry. Personally, I've never taken one. I never will. I drink alcohol and I may not get a good night's sleep. I'm already backing myself into a corner.
Then I have to go, and this guy puts cream all over his body that gives him a crazy aura, it's not fair. That's why I'm angry.
Once you're caught, you can't act like a victim. That's what pisses me off even more. I think, 'Wait a second... you're employing your team, aren't you?' Let's say we go out and party... How, in our sport, can someone be punished for two years for spending a night out... compared to someone who's actually trying to improve their performance.
It's not even a question of which is worse in my opinion. It's obvious that both are bad."
