Lestienne withdraws, a mixed bag for the French at Tuesday's Australian Open qualifiers
Eleven French players were in contention this Tuesday for the first round of Australian Open qualifying.
Due to rain on Monday, matches started six hours late, leading to postponements until Tuesday.
Of the eleven French players, only four managed to qualify.
They were Titouan Droguet, who beat Jan Choinski, Terence Atmane, who eliminated Matthew Dellavedova, Valentin Royer, who beat Marc Polmans, and Clément Chidekh, who took advantage of Felipe Meligeni Alves' withdrawal.
Grégoire Barrère, Pierre-Hugues Herbert, Matteo Martineau, Calvin Hemery, Antoine Escoffier and Enzo Couacaud were eliminated, as was Constant Lestienne, who dropped out at 6-3, 4-1 to Vit Kopriva.
