Ljubicic: "Roger taught me more than anyone else, you have to celebrate your victories"
Roger Federer and Ivan Ljubicic know each other very well.
The two men first faced each other on the tennis courts, having played against each other 16 times, with the Swiss winning 13 to 3.
Later, the Croatian coached Federer. For the third episode of The Sit Down, on the Australian Open website, Ljubicic revealed a piece of advice that Federer had given him.
During his Davis Cup title win in 2005 with Croatia against Slovakia, he regrets not having fully enjoyed that victory.
He says: "Even today, I regret that after that celebration in the main square, we didn't go out to eat together as a team.
Right after that, you know how it is, I go home, I see my family, and then we never get back together as a team. And that's something I regret a little.
In hindsight, if I can give advice to people, and Roger taught me this more than anyone, it's to celebrate your victories.
Celebrate them, even the defeats. If it's the final, take the time. It deserves to be celebrated.
It's something I didn't do enough when I was a player."
